Helen Butts Liles, 79, of Littleton, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at Carolina Rest Home.

Helen, a native of Brunswick County, Virginia, was the daughter of the late Joseph and Berta Mae Rogers Hayes. She was a member of Tabor United Methodist Church. She was also retired from Leggett’s department store with 33 years of service.

Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Alpheus Butts, and their daughter, Catherine Butts.

She was also preceded in death by eleven siblings, Winston Hayes, Buster Hayes, Claude Hayes, Effie Rodgers, Artie Crowder, B. Hayes, M. Hayes, Kenny Hayes, Coyt Hayes, Landen Hayes and James Hayes.

Helen is survived by her husband, Roger J. Liles, of the home; sons, Mike Butts and his wife, Wanda, and Greg Liles and his wife, Kay Lawrence, all of Littleton. Four grandchildren, Michael Butts and his wife, Sarah, of Littleton, Christina Sewell and her husband, Brian, of Roanoke Rapids, Lori Ann Cain and her husband, Derrick, of Smyrna, TN, and Linley Liles of Littleton; five great grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Ezzell, of Brodnax, Va.; her brother, Mack Hayes and his wife, Vicky, of South Hill, Va.; and special caregiver, Ethelean Richardson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Sid Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
